Use a voucher on a futures order

Vouchers & Fee Saver

What it does

On the futures order form you can turn on Use voucher so that a voucher pays part of the margin of a new position. You still pay the rest, plus the trading fee. The My Vouchers page describes it as: "Open a new futures position and turn on “Use voucher”. The voucher can be up to [percent]% of your margin. After [number] min, losses come from the voucher first. Profit is all yours." The percentage and the minutes are set by BYNAI and shown on your My Vouchers page under How to use your vouchers, in the Cover futures losses card.

Where to find it

Open a futures trading page (for example from the Trade futures button on My Vouchers). The Use voucher checkbox is on the order form with "[amount] USDT available". It is shown when you are signed in and futures vouchers are on for your account. It may not appear on pairs that have not started trading yet.

If you have no voucher, the row still shows and links to Get vouchers, which opens My Vouchers.

When the checkbox is available

The checkbox is disabled, with a reason underneath, unless all of these are true:

You seeWhat to change
"You don't have any vouchers yet." with Get vouchersYou have no usable voucher. Tap Get vouchers to open My Vouchers.
"Voucher works with market orders, or limit orders set to IOC or FOK."Switch to a Market order, or to a Limit order with time in force IOC or FOK. On mobile, tap Use Market Order under the message to switch for you.
"Turn off Reduce-only to use a voucher."Turn Reduce-only off.
"Remove TP/SL to use a voucher."Remove the take-profit and stop-loss from the order. You can set them again after the position is open.
"Vouchers only apply to a new position. Close your current position on this pair first."You already hold a position on this pair. Close it first. Vouchers only fund a new position.

Order types that rest on the order book (a normal limit order, Post-only) and conditional or stop orders cannot use a voucher.

What you see after you turn it on

  • Paid by voucher: the part of the margin the voucher will pay.
  • You pay: what leaves your futures balance for this order.
  • "Losses use the voucher first after [number] min. Profit is yours, and fees are paid by you."
  • "One order can use up to [amount] USDT of voucher."
  • "The voucher used here is spent once your order is placed. It doesn't come back when you close the position."

The voucher part is the smallest of: your usable voucher balance, the share of margin allowed (shown on My Vouchers), and the per-order limit. It only covers part of the initial margin. It does not pay the trading fee or the extra buffer the order needs, and it is never more than the order costs.

Important points

  • The voucher is spent when the order is placed. Closing the position does not return it.
  • Profit is yours. Loss cover only starts after a waiting time (see the next article).
  • Fees are paid by you.
  • You must put in some of your own margin. If you do not, the order is rejected with "Add more of your own margin to use a voucher." Increase the order size or lower the leverage so your own part is larger.
  • Your voucher balance is used oldest-expiry first.

If the order is rejected

A rejected order shows a message titled "Order failed" with one of these reasons:

MessageWhat to do
"Vouchers can't be used for futures right now."Voucher trading is switched off. Try later or turn off Use voucher.
"Your voucher balance is too low for this order."Lower the order size or turn off Use voucher.
"Your voucher has expired."Expired vouchers cannot be renewed.
"This order uses more voucher than the per-order limit."Reduce the order size.
"Today's voucher budget is used up. Try again tomorrow."The daily voucher budget is used up. Try again the next day.
"You've reached the lifetime voucher limit."Your account has used its lifetime limit of voucher loss cover, so vouchers can no longer be used for futures.
"Vouchers aren't available for this pair."Choose another trading pair.
"Vouchers aren't available in this pair's margin mode. Switch to Isolated and try again."Change the pair's margin mode to Isolated, then retry.
"You already have a position on this pair. Vouchers only fund a new position."Close your current position on the pair first.
"This order can't use a voucher. Vouchers fund only a new position (no open position on this pair), opened with a market or IOC/FOK limit order."Use a Market or IOC/FOK Limit order on a pair where you have no open position.
"Vouchers work only with a market order or an IOC/FOK limit order that opens a position. Turn off Reduce-only, Post-only, and TP/SL."Change the order type and turn off Reduce-only, Post-only and TP/SL.
"Add more of your own margin to use a voucher."Increase the order size or lower leverage so you pay some of the margin yourself.
"This position uses a voucher, so it can't be increased or changed."See the position rules article.
"The voucher part of the margin can't be removed."See the position rules article.

IOC/FOK orders with no liquidity: "No liquidity matched this [IOC or FOK] order, so nothing was executed. Try a limit order or a smaller size." Nothing is placed and no voucher is used.

FAQ

Why is Use voucher greyed out? Read the sentence under it. It names the exact reason; use the table above.

Why does my voucher not come back when I close the position? A futures voucher is spent when the order is placed. The part that did not cover a loss shows as "Expired unused" in your closed position history.

Can I use a voucher to add to a position I already have? No. Vouchers only fund a new position.

Does a voucher pay my trading fee? No. Fees come from your own funds. Fee Saver (separate article) may reduce futures fees.

Does it work in cross margin? The checkbox is not limited by margin mode in the form, but some pairs reject it: "Vouchers aren't available in this pair's margin mode. Switch to Isolated and try again."
